Nicaragua’s has a wide diversity of habitats, which range from coastal estuaries to cloud forests. These habitats are home to numerous resident and migratory bird species. Accompanied by professional birding guides, our bird watching tours guarantee the best possible opportunities to see a wide variety of birds.

Our tours are to Nicaragua’s best bird watching sites. However, Nicaragua also has abundant wildlife, culture and numerous attractions. The Epic Bird Watching Escapade is designed to encapsulate and focus, not only on bird watching but also to provide a platform to enjoy other activities and learn about the fascinating culture of Nicaragua.

ITINERARIES
Day Activities
1 Arrival and Transfer to Montebelli Nature Reserve. A welcome dinner in the evening where we introduce participants, guides and the details of the tour.
2 Montibelli Dry Tropical Forest and Chocoyero Nature Reserve. After a light breakfast we spend the morning bird watching and exploring the reserve. In the afternoon we make our way to Chocoyero to see hundreds of Pacific parakeets. There are estimated to be more than 800 Chocoyos within the reserve, using the high cliffs and rocky ledges for nesting.
3 Mombacho Cloud Forest Reserve and Los Pueblos Blancos. Today is an early start to visit the Mombacho volcano and cloud forest reserve, located approximately 30 minutes from Granada. In the afternoon we visit Masaya,Los Pueblos Blancos and Laguna De Apoyo.
4 Solentiname Islands. From Laguna De Apoyo we transfer to Managua airport and take a flight to San Carlos. From San Carlos we transfer to the Solentiname Islands. On arrival we will explore the islands bird watching and learning about their fascinating culture and history.
5 Full Day in the Los Guatuzos Nature Reserve. We take an early morning boat transfer over to the reserve. We spend the day in the reserve looking for birds and wildlife. We have lunch with the local community.
6 Sabalos Lodge. From the Solentiname Islands we transfer to the Sabalos lodge via El Castillo. Sabalos lodge is located on the banks of the Rio Sabalos where there is a diverse jungle habitat for bird and wildlife watching.
7 Full day in the Indio Maiz Nature Reserve. From Sabalos we head down river to Bartola, the starting point of the Indio Maiz Biosphere Reserve. We spend the entire day exploring this magnificent reserve.
8 Transfer to Managua. Early morning boat transfer to San Carlos and then Flight to Managua.
