An amazing journey through the highlands of Nicaragua and on to the rugged North West Coast.
The mystic mountains of Nicaragua are filled with infinite natural wonders. From the jungle filled valleys to the crystal clear waterfalls, this region possesses a lure that can only be described as magical. This adventure focuses seriously on the highland regions diversity of landscapes and cultures. Ranging from the cloud forests to some of Nicaragua’s most important historical regions you will be enchanted on every step of this expedition.
This tour is for the really adventurous person who is not afraid to get out amongst nature. As we make our way through three of Nicaragua’s mountains states, the major activity will be hiking within or on the outskirts of the regions most beautiful and treasured nature reserves. Intermingled with hiking you will also see and learn about the process of making Nicaragua’s treasured coffee, cigars and chocolate.
We then leave the cool mountains and make our way down to the warmer regions. Our first stop is Leon, the capital of the revolution and now a vibrant colonial town oozing with culture and good times. On the second day in Leon we will see the regions three greatest attractions Cerro Negro Volcano, Laguna Asososca and Leon Viejo, a truly impressive day out.
After Leon we make our way to the rugged and wild beaches of the Chinandegan region. Chinandega is home to not only beautiful beaches but also to Central America’s largest estuary and Cosigüina Volcano. It is here where Nicaragua meets Honduras and El Salvador in the Golf De Fonseca.
There are miles of empty beaches in this region. We will spend time soaking up some sun, relaxing and of course, hiking to the top of Cosguina volcano.
